How would you like to have been called into your direct managers office, then have your direct manager ‘read a script’ that essentially informed you that you no longer have a job and during the reading, you are instructed where to go to access more information about your severance and your benefits, and then discover that you have been locked out of any access to company information.
Well, 20% percent, or over 1200 employees, experienced just what I described, or something similar, when they came to work at Snapchat on a Wednesday in August of 2022.
The reason for the lay offs, according to Snapchat, was an attempt to bring down costs.
This came as a big surprise to all affected employees.
In a meeting the following day, Snap’s CEO Evan Spiegel, said to those who were lucky enough to mot get fired to see the company’s ‘reorganization’ as an opportunity to ‘prove the haters wrong’… ok.
Once again proving that no one’s job is secure.
