FedEx plans to institute a ‘consolidation program’ which involves eliminating more than 480 workers and close two facilities by the fall.
FedEx is closing package distribution stations in Greensboro, North Carolina, eliminating 164 jobs, and Omaha, Nebraska, eliminating 102 jobs.
Another 84 positions will be eliminated at a facility in Des Moines, Iowa.
Let’s keep going why not.
In the summer, another 131 jobs will be eliminated in Garland Texas and in Plano, Texas.
The closures and layoffs will take effect Sept. 1, 2025.
FedEx executives also said that it plans to close 30% of its parcel terminals within two years.
This is great news for shareholders, but not so good news for those losing their jobs.
FedEx did offer positions to workers who will be affected by the layoffs, but the workers would have to relocate to a new town or maybe travel over 50 miles to get to work.
It takes time to build a secondary income, or to build a business.
My advice, get started now before your paycheck is cut in your town.
