In July 2025 Microsoft announced that it will lay off about 9,000 employees, this will affect less than 4% of its global workforce across different teams, geographies and levels of experience.

Microsoft Spokesperson said:
“We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company and teams for success in a dynamic marketplace,”
‘organizational changes’ means people are laid off.
‘best position the company and teams for success’ means they are concerned about the ‘company’, not creating jobs.
Microsoft has laid off:
- 6,000 jobs in May
- 300 more in June
- In 2023 Microsoft cut 10,000 people
In March, Microsoft reported nearly $26 billion in net income on $70 billion in revenue for the March quarter.
It’s all about profits.
Microsoft is ranked as one of the most profitable companies in the S&P 500 index, according to FactSet.
Finally, Microsoft executives call for about 14% year-over-year revenue growth in the June quarter.
